Ryan brings over 17 years of coaching and scouting experience at the Junior level, paired with a strong background in player development and mentorship.
A product of the Nepean Minor Hockey Association, Ryan played in the EOJHL with the Metcalfe Jets and Shawville Pontiac before continuing his career at the collegiate level with the SUNY North Country Saints in New York.
His coaching experience includes time behind the bench with the Gloucester Rangers, Nepean Raiders and Kanata Blazers (HEO AA), Stittsville/Richmond Royals and Winchester Hawks (EOJHL), and the Nepean Raiders (CCHL). His scouting positions include time with the Kingston Voyageurs, Trenton Golden Hawks and Cobourg Cougars (OJHL), as well as the Brockville Braves (CCHL). Currently, Ryan serves as a Scout for the Carleton Place Canadians (CCHL).
Ryan is also a certified player representative through Sport Management Worldwide and works as a professional skills and development coach, focusing on progression-based drills and fundamental skill-building to maximize player potential. His leadership was recognized with back-to-back Ottawa Coach of the Year awards in 2022 and 2023 by Faces Magazine.
Joseph Wiseman is an Ottawa native and experienced coach with over 10 years in minor hockey development. A graduate of the Nepean Minor Hockey Association as a player, Joseph has become known for his competitive spirit, strong leadership, and proven results behind the bench.
In 2019–2020, he guided the Nepean Raiders U16AA to an outstanding season, capturing three tournament championships, an International Silver Stick title, a 2nd-place provincial ranking, and a league title with an undefeated playoff run. He later served as Head Coach for the Kanata Blazers U15AA and Gloucester Rangers U15AA, earning HEO Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year honors.
Joseph has coached in five HEO All-Star Games and currently serves as Assistant Coach with the U14AAA Ottawa Jr. 67’s. His passion for player development and commitment to excellence continue to drive team and individual success.
Matthew is entering his fifth season coaching with GOAHL, bringing a full-circle understanding of the game as both a former player and a current coach. His playing career spanned every competitive level in the Greater Ottawa Area—from U14AA with the Ottawa Sting, to four years with the Ottawa Jr. 67’s AAA, including an affiliate stint with the Cumberland Grads (CCHL).
He played three seasons in the EOJHL with the Ottawa West Golden Knights (serving as captain) and the Ottawa Jr. Canadians, and wrapped up his Junior career with the North Dundas Rockets (NCJHL). He currently plays for the North Dundas Sr. Rockets, contributing to their back-to-back EOSHL Championships in 2021–2022 and 2022–2023.
As a coach, Matthew has worked alongside Coach Wiseman through multiple championship seasons and All-Star Game appearances. His on-ice leadership and knowledge of the local hockey landscape make him a key part of the GOAHL coaching team.
Evan joins the GOAHL coaching staff for hist first season behind the bench, bringing recent Junior playing experience to the league. A product of the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven, Evan went on to play in the EOJHL with the Richmond Royals, where he set a franchise record for most games played by a defenceman.
He also spent time in Elmira, NY, competing with the Elmira Junior Enforcers of the USPHL Premier, following in the footsteps of his father. In 2023, Evan earned the title of Defenceman of the Year in GOAHL's Junior Division.
Evan now shifts to coaching with a fresh player's perspective and a passion for development. His goal is to guide the next generation of players with the same commitment and drive that he played with during his career.
